The Voice Of Reason... ... In A Town Gone Mad
The U.S. Department of Justice wants San Francisco to repay $5.4 million in grant money earmarked to help fight the war on drugs in states bordering Mexico because federal auditors found the city was not eligible for the funding.
San Francisco had sought the grant under the Southwest Border Prosecution Initiative, which compensates law enforcement agencies in California and other border states for the costs of handling prosecutions in lieu of federal authorities.
As of March of last year, the city claimed it had handled more than 2,241 such cases, but a federal audit released this week found that none of the cases had been referred by federal officials to District Attorney Kamala Harris' office as required under the program.
The audit found that the cases the city cited in its application should have been "disallowed" as "unsubstantiated" under the government's grant criteria.
City officials contacted Thursday were unable to explain the circumstances surrounding San Francisco's application for the grant or how it spent the funds.
During his prime, Chavez, a third-generation American citizen from Yuma, Arizona and Navy veteran, was an American labor leader fighting against the importation of strikebreakers from Mexico. But as power and praise went to his head, his image morphed into that of a Mexican mestizo racial emblem, the patron saint of the reconquista of Alta California by la raza. In 2006, we automatically assume that America’s self-appointed Latino leaders—the politicians, campaign consultants, media mouthpieces, and identity-politics warriors—favor ever more immigration. Their influence and income flow from their claim to represent vast numbers of Hispanics, so the more warm bodies they can get across the border, the larger will be the ethnic quotas upon which their careers are based. But the union leader who is honestly battling for the welfare of his members—as opposed to the boss merely attempting to maximize the number of dues-paying workers—wants less competition for them. Chavez’s essential problem was straight out of Econ 101, the law of supply and demand. He needed to limit the supply of labor in order to drive up wages. Just as American Federation of Labor founder Samuel Gompers, himself a Jewish immigrant, was one of the most influential voices calling for the successful immigration-restriction law of 1924, Chavez, during his effectual years, was a ferocious opponent of illegal immigration. His success stemmed from the long-term decline in the farm labor supply. According to agricultural economist Philip L. Martin of the University of California, Davis, migrant farm workers in the U.S. numbered 2 million in the 1920s. Eisenhower cracked down on Mexican illegal immigrants, shipping one million home in 1954 alone. The famous 1960 “Harvest of Shame” documentary by CBS newsman Edward R. Murrow inspired liberal Democrats in Congress to abolish the bracero guest-worker program in 1964. The supply of migrant workers dropped to about 200,000, most of them American citizens, making unionization and better contracts feasible—as long as what Marx called “the reserve army of the unemployed” could be bottled up south of the border. The next year, Chavez began his storied organizing campaign. Growers fought back by busing the reserve army up from Mexico. In 1979, Chavez bitterly testified to Congress: … when the farm workers strike and their strike is successful, the employers go to Mexico and have unlimited, unrestricted use of illegal alien strikebreakers to break the strike. And, for over 30 years, the Immigration and Naturalization Service has looked the other way and assisted in the strikebreaking. I do not remember one single instance in 30 years where the Immigration service has removed strikebreakers. … The employers use professional smugglers to recruit and transport human contraband across the Mexican border for the specific act of strikebreaking… In 1969, Chavez led a march to the Mexican border to protest illegal immigration. Joining him were Sen. Walter Mondale and Martin Luther King’s successor as head of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference, Ralph Abernathy.

AMSTERDAM, 27/03/08 - The majority of the Dutch are negative on Islam and immigration. Additionally, their knowledge of Dutch history is meagre, according to a survey by three history professors.
According to 56 percent of the Dutch, Islam is a threat to the Dutch identity. As well, 57 percent named admitting large groups of immigrants as "the biggest mistake in Dutch history".

How would he pull it off? I wondered.
How would Barack explain to his press groupies why he sat silent in a pew for 20 years as the Rev. Jeremiah Wright delivered racist rants against white America for our maligning of Fidel and Gadhafi, and inventing AIDS to infect and kill black people?
How would he justify not walking out as Wright spewed his venom about "the U.S. of K.K.K. America," and howled, "God damn America!"
My hunch was right. Barack would turn the tables.
Yes, Barack agreed, Wright's statements were "controversial," and "divisive," and "racially charged," reflecting a "distorted view of America."
But we must understand the man in full and the black experience out of which the Rev. Wright came: 350 years of slavery and segregation.
Barack then listed black grievances and informed us what white America must do to close the racial divide and heal the country.
The "white community," said Barack, must start "acknowledging that what ails the African-American community does not just exist in the minds of black people; that the legacy of discrimination—and current incidents of discrimination, while less overt than in the past—are real and must be addressed. Not just with words, but with deeds ... ." [Full text]
And what deeds must we perform to heal ourselves and our country?
The "white community" must invest more money in black schools and communities, enforce civil rights laws, ensure fairness in the criminal justice system and provide this generation of blacks with "ladders of opportunity" that were "unavailable" to Barack's and the Rev. Wright's generations.
What is wrong with Barack's prognosis and Barack's cure?
Only this. It is the same old con, the same old shakedown that black hustlers have been running since the Kerner Commission blamed the riots in Harlem, Watts, Newark, Detroit and a hundred other cities on, as Nixon put it, "everybody but the rioters themselves."
Was "white racism" really responsible for those black men looting auto dealerships and liquor stories, and burning down their own communities, as Otto Kerner said—that liberal icon until the feds put him away for bribery.
Barack says we need to have a conversation about race in America.
Fair enough. But this time, it has to be a two-way conversation. White America needs to be heard from, not just lectured to.
This time, the Silent Majority needs to have its convictions, grievances and demands heard. And among them are these:
First, America has been the best country on earth for black folks. It was here that 600,000 black people, brought from Africa in slave ships, grew into a community of 40 million, were introduced to Christian salvation, and reached the greatest levels of freedom and prosperity blacks have ever known.
Wright ought to go down on his knees and thank God he is an American.
Second, no people anywhere has done more to lift up blacks than white Americans. Untold trillions have been spent since the '60s on welfare, food stamps, rent supplements, Section 8 housing, Pell grants, student loans, legal services, Medicaid, Earned Income Tax Credits and poverty programs designed to bring the African-American community into the mainstream.
Governments, businesses and colleges have engaged in discrimination against white folks—with affirmative action, contract set-asides and quotas—to advance black applicants over white applicants.
Churches, foundations, civic groups, schools and individuals all over America have donated time and money to support soup kitchens, adult education, day care, retirement and nursing homes for blacks.
We hear the grievances. Where is the gratitude?
Barack talks about new "ladders of opportunity" for blacks.
Let him go to Altoona and Johnstown, and ask the white kids in Catholic schools how many were visited lately by Ivy League recruiters handing out scholarships for "deserving" white kids.
Is white America really responsible for the fact that the crime and incarceration rates for African-Americans are seven times those of white America? Is it really white America's fault that illegitimacy in the African-American community has hit 70 percent and the black dropout rate from high schools in some cities has reached 50 percent?
Is that the fault of white America or, first and foremost, a failure of the black community itself?
As for racism, its ugliest manifestation is in interracial crime, and especially interracial crimes of violence. Is Barack Obama aware that while white criminals choose black victims 3 percent of the time, black criminals choose white victims 45 percent of the time?
Is Barack aware that black-on-white rapes are 100 times more common than the reverse, that black-on-white robberies were 139 times as common in the first three years of this decade as the reverse?
We have all heard ad nauseam from the Rev. Al about Tawana Brawley, the Duke rape case and Jena. And all turned out to be hoaxes. But about the epidemic of black assaults on whites that are real, we hear nothing.
Sorry, Barack, some of us have heard it all before, about 40 years and 40 trillion tax dollars ago.
When a homeless man named James Allen Hill overdosed and died in the restroom of the San Francisco library last Friday afternoon, it was shocker.
A drug overdose in the public library? Really?
"It was an unfortunate and tragic incident for everyone," said library spokeswoman Marcia Schneider. "Especially for the security staff that handled it."
There will be those who will see Hill's death as a failure of the system, another example of how the city neglects its poorest residents.
That's not the story here. The city did anything but neglect Hill. But his case does show a flaw, all right: Chronic and incorrigible offenders avoid the consequences of their actions - aggressive panhandling, public urinating or drunkenness - often through the help of well-intentioned attorneys for homeless advocates.
And instead of being placed in treatment, the offender goes back on the street and continues his destructive behavior.
Hill is a perfect example. A familiar nuisance in the Haight, Hill slept in a garage doorway near the Panhandle and was a constant, drunken annoyance to residents and police. From Aug. 27 of last year to Jan. 22, Hill was cited at least 15 times by officers, mostly for open alcoholic containers on the street and public drunkenness.
Time and again, those citations were dismissed.
Often cases like Hill's never even make it to court. The district attorney's office says that is because homeless advocate attorneys drag out the process as long as possible, creating a paper bottleneck in the courts with "burden of proof" legal requests. There are so many steps and appeals that any misstep can result in a dismissal, which the DA's office says is why hundreds of "quality of life"' infractions are thrown out.
To illustrate, Assistant District Attorney Paul Henderson went through court records and found six cases in which Hill was represented in court by Homeless Coalition attorneys. In what has become a familiar refrain, those attorneys got three of the cases dismissed before they came to trial.
In the other three active cases, prosecutors had offered to drop the charges if Hill agreed to go into treatment for his alcohol problem, Henderson said.
"In other words, we were saying, we don't want to prosecute him, fine him, or send him to jail, but he's got to go to services. And he's got to show us proof that he's gone," he said.
The offer was declined as Hill's attorneys fought the citations. They were still fighting them when he died.
"There's a really good chance we could have saved this guy's life," said Dariush Kayhan, the city's homeless coordinator.
Hill is the personification of the city's frustration with chronic offenders. There wasn't any question about Hill's problems. He drank to excess, used heroin, and careened out of control around the neighborhood. At one point Hill was so drunk that a police officer found him peeing on a black-and-white cruiser.
Does this sound like someone who needs help? Not to the advocates, or the high-powered local law firms who volunteer to do pro bono work to keep people like Hill from convictions.
"It's frustrating," Henderson said. "If he had been convicted, he would have been in treatment."
Attorneys who advocate for the homeless insist it is not that simple.
Elisa Della-Piana is an attorney for the Lawyers Committee for Civil Rights, which often works for the Homeless Coalition and its clients. She wouldn't confirm that Hill was one of her group's clients but said the District Attorney's Office "has never offered a treatment bed or treatment slot to any of our clients."
The distinction here may be what constitutes a "treatment service." In any case, Hill didn't get it.
One of the primary reasons cases are dismissed is that advocates demand a "traffic court response" to the infractions. That means the arresting officer, who appears at court even though the homeless person generally does not bother, must generate a written narrative of what happened. Henderson sees it as "an artificial hoop" that is designed to muck up the process.
In an appearance before the court this week to try to stop the dismissal of cases, Henderson argued that a narrative isn't needed when the charges are explained in the citation.
"The citation is its own authority," he said. "Every single county in California accepts that, except San Francisco."
In fact, one of Hill's citations was dismissed for "lack of a traffic court response." Here's a guy with at least 15 citations - not to mention any number of times when police stopped him, poured out his booze, and told him to knock it off - and he gets off because of a lack of a written narrative for the arrest.
You will hear a lot about "criminalizing the homeless," in these kinds of cases, but who's really being hurt here? It is annoying to the residents to have a nuisance like Hill in the neighborhood, but even the police don't want to lock him up.
"There are some extreme cases that we see on the street," Kayhan said, "and the last thing we want to do is put them in jail. Here's a guy who is really a classic example. The intent of the law is to find another avenue to engage people who are participating in the kind of harmful behavior that leads to misery and death. I see this as a missed opportunity."
Of course, there is no question that the advocates believe in what they are doing. They insist they are giving representation to the powerless, standing up for homeless against the legal system.
And that's what they were doing last Friday, when James Hill died on the cold tiles of a public bathroom, three months after his 37th birthday.
"In the name of multiculturalism, racial minorities and anarcho-liberals have waged war on the historic identity of the United States, and the value of Western culture in general. They have resolutely denied that a common American culture even exists. At the same time they demand a universalist order that would impose their political and racial vision onto the entire world. These groups are supported by other subnational elements that include radical feminists, homosexuals, liberation theologians, and Hispanic groups that are already mapping out large portions of America for annexation. By steadily tearing at the cultural and institutional fabric of the United States, these groups are changing the very moral foundations of the nation. Some of the most obvious examples of decline include:
1). Open racial violence against whites.
2). Rejection of normative sexual and social behaviors.
3). Increased family decay, and the abdication of parental responsibility.
4). Dramatic decline in the willingness of young people to identify with the United States and to defend its political or cultural ideals.
5). Unwillingness to defend America’s borders from millions of immigrants.
6). The increasing division of public choices — whether elections, curriculum choices, budget decisions, jury verdicts, cultural observances — along openly racial lines."
According to public transcripts, Rep. Sam Farr (D-Carmel) told ICE chief Julie Myers at a House subcommittee hearing, "The public image of you becomes one of not this compassionate law enforcement agency but essentially a Gestapo-type agency that is knocking down doors."
VOIAC is a registry and data base for Victims of Illegal Alien Crime.
Through exclusive FSM investigation, we have discovered that crimes committed by foreign nationals, including illegal aliens, on American soil are not tracked, recorded, or reported by the FBI or the Justice Department as being committed by foreign nationals. This includes all crimes, including those committed by illegal alien terrorists to illegal alien criminals who are currently molesting, raping, killing, and murdering Americans in shocking numbers.
In essence, not only are the victims of illegal alien crime ignored and forgotten, they are not even given the dignity of being a statistic. They just disappear. We are creating this registry and data base to change this disgrace, because the government should be tracking this aspect of crime. Through the VOIAC data base, FSM will attempt to correct this malfeasance. It is to be noted that the President and Congress swore an oath to protect and defend the citizens of the United States; it is their primary responsibility and their actions, or lack thereof, are an abrogation of sworn duty making the majority of them malefactors.
A 30-year-old worker of the five-star, luxury Clift Hotel near Union Square was arrested early this morning on suspicion of sexually assaulting a female hotel guest.
Police arrested Christian Rojas at the lobby of the hotel on Geary Street at 5 a.m. Officials said Rojas had used a key card assigned to him to enter the room, assaulted the victim, 39, and then left.
"The safety and privacy of our guests is our top priority. We are cooperating fully with the San Francisco Police Department and its ongoing investigation of the reported incident," said Elizabeth Grillos, the hotel's director of sales and marketing. "Pending the results of the investigation, we have no further information to share at this time."
Michelle Obama has achieved enormous professional success, political influence, and personal acclaim in America. Ivy League-educated, she’s been lauded by Essence magazine as one of the 25 World’s Most Inspiring Women; by Vanity Fair as one of the “10 World’s Best Dressed People; and named one of “The Harvard 100″ top influencers. She has had an amazingly blessed life. But you wouldn’t know it from her campaign rhetoric and her griping over her and her husband’s student loans.
For years, we’ve heard liberals get offended at any challenge to their patriotism. And so they are again aggrieved and rising to explain away Mrs. Obama’s remarks."
Officially, 26 of Mr. Calderón's 34 events from New York City, Boston, Chicago to Sacramento and Los Angeles are behind closed doors, according to his agenda, which was only delivered to reporters after he arrived in New York City on Sunday night.
At every stop, he has scheduled meetings with top local and state officials, some of whom have direct links to presidential candidates.
In other words, he is here lobbying. Despite the constant rhetoric about "not interfering in a country's affairs," he is interfering. That is the whole purpose of this trip... to fuck with American politics.
In California, Mr. Calderón will meet with Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger and Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa. Mr. Calderón and his wife, Margarita Zavala, will meet with the state's first lady, Maria Shriver, who recently endorsed Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama. "The trip has a political agenda that's aimed at helping shape the agenda for an incoming president," said Armand Peschard-Sverdrup, a Washington-based political consultant at Peschard & Associates. He is not meeting personally with any of the presidential candidates, but he is urging them not to scapegoat immigrants or use them as "symbolic hostages in their speeches and strategies." "The worst thing that happened in this country is this anti-Mexican or anti-immigrant perception of people," he said Monday, after giving a speech at Harvard's John F. Kennedy School of Government. "We need to contain this." The Mexican president wants help improving his country's tattered image by drawing attention to the economic contributions of many of his 12 million countrymen. And that's OK with Paula Mercado, a cook at a deli at Penn Station in New York City. "Anything that helps convince Americans that we're not the terrorists who want to destroy their country is welcome. Adelante," she said, meaning "go right ahead." That's it, isn't it? So... start convincing! I am sure folks like Mercado are sincere. I for one would be elated to see Mexicans acknowledge that this is OUR COUNTRY and WE HAVE THE RIGHT to decide who gets in. I don't see that from the Mexicans. What I see is a lot of whining, demanding, and race-baiting. I also see a lot of subtle Aztlan-y rhetoric from the La Raza types all over the country. They might not be shouting it from the rooftops, but they're thinking it. The fact is that many Mexicans believe that the USA is their land, and don't need our approval to be here... and certainly don't feel any need to conform in even the slightest way to our culture. We need to deal in a constructive manner with those illegal immigrants who are not terrorists and don't want to destroy the USA. BUT... those immigrants who ARE terrorists and DO want to destroy the USA (such as Elvira Arellano and her ilk) need to be dealt with... swiftly and harshly. There is no room in this country for immigrants - legal or illegal - who do not wish to become part of it. There is no room in this country for immigrants who won't assimilate. There is no room for people who do not acknowledge the dominant culture of this country, and do not seek to work within that culture's morals and laws.
“Some of the 26 were recovered, some were hurt and some were killed,” said agent Alex Horan, who directs the FBI's violent-crime squad in San Diego.
“They know who they're going after. I think they have a list,” Horan said. “These are kidnapping cells. . . . That's what they do. They do kidnappings all year long.”

One of the top ten fugitives wanted by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement was captured Wednesday in Los Angeles, according to immigration officials.
David Rivera, a suspected MS-13 gang member, is wanted for questioning by the Los Angeles Police Department in connection with several homicides.
As agents closed in on Rivera in an apartment complex in the Rampart neighborhood of Los Angeles, he attempted to flee, but was quickly captured by ICE agents with the assistance of LAPD officers and detectives.
Rivera has been wanted for four years, and had previously been deported after a conviction on a weapons charge. He is in the U.S. illegally.
The 33-year-old alleged gang member faces 20 years in prison for illegal re-entry after being deported.

Police said he was the getaway driver after Perez-Gonzalez, 28, attempted to burglarize the 78-year-old woman’s Serramonte neighborhood home about 3:15 p.m. on Jan. 12, but instead battered her with a pry bar and left her for dead. Cuellar is charged with attempted murder, aggravated assault and armed robbery.
Police said Ortiz helped set up another alleged burglary for Perez-Gonzalez in December that targeted the Pacifica residence of Ortiz’s employer.
The alleged heist occurred during a company Christmas party on Dec. 21 held by Ortiz’s boss, Jesse Henry, the owner of Superior Automotive, an auto body shop in San Francisco. Henry said Tuesday that $50,000 worth of property was stolen. Police said some of the stolen items were later recovered at Perez-Gonzalez’s apartment.
Who's this cocksucker, you ask?
This cunt worked as a house painter, so it's possible that he may try to get work as a day-laborer. Which means the bitch could be hanging out on a street corner near you.
(01-15) 07:45 PST Victorville, Calif. (AP) --
The illegal immigrant uncle of a 3-year-old Victorville girl has pleaded guilty to raping the child.
San Bernardino County prosecutors say Salvador Luna pleaded guilty to continuous sexual abuse of a child and lewd or lascivious acts with a child under 14 with use of force.
The 30-year-old defendant was sentenced to 24 years in prison and will likely be classified a sexually violent predator, meaning psychologists must approve his release.
If mental health experts determine he's unfit for release, prosecutor Kathleen DiDonato says Luna can be held for anther two years before another evaluation takes place.
