The Truth Abut San Francisco

The always awesome Brenda Walker put this fine piece in VDare: "Is San Francisco At The Tipping Point?" It's an absolutely dead-on critique of this town.

Here's the truth about S.F... it has NOT always been this crazy. There have always been unconventional people and eccentrics in town, but that is NOT what is going on now. There is a difference between a town that is a little wild and a town that is descending into madness. While there were 'wild n' crazy' people before, the new San Franciscan is just plain crazy. And this psychotic break that this city has been mired in for the last 7 years or so can be directly attributed to the ascendancy of the "progressive" movement as a Stalinist one-party state.

There have always been "unconventional" politicians who have done well and even bettered the City. A slightly nutty character can bring some welcome change to a government. But when you have an entire government made up of cultural Marxists - people who find fault with every good idea, people who reward the criminals and punish the law-abiding, people who make life hell for anyone who is not a bum, people who can't even take a piss without having a committee meeting to see if it "offends" anyone - then you have a recipe for disaster. For several years the recipe has been simmering, and now we are seeing what a truly "progressive" government brings to a city... chaos, crime, confusion, ruthless inefficiency, and a palpable civil insanity.

I have lived here for 20 years and it saddens and sickens me to see what is happening to my home. This is NOT the same City it was 10 years ago. San Francisco has NOT always been like this. This is madness.

Is San Francisco At The Tipping Point?

By Brenda Walker

San Francisco has recently gotten overdue censure for being the nation's biggest psych ward masquerading as a city, showing what happens when left-wing border anarchists are allowed to run a major metropolis.

The event which dismayed even the mainstream media: an expensive city program that protected illegal alien Honduran crack dealers claiming to be juveniles from federal authorities. Around the same time, a horrific triple murder caused a Supervisor to assess the city's gang violence as "out of control." The common thread of such wild lawlessness is immigration permissiveness and how San Francisco has taken it to new excess.

The news that the city had, as a matter of policy, hidden foreign drug-dealing criminals away from deportation by federal immigration authorities elicited anger and outrage locally and around the U.S. When eight of the convicted Honduran "youth" were ensconced at taxpayer expense in an open-door San Bernardino County group home, they simply walked out at will. What a surprise. San Bernardino County officials are furious that they were used without notice as a dumping ground and have demanded San Francisco turn over all records surrounding the case.

Just a couple weeks earlier, San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom had been enjoying a wave of local popularity as same-sex marriage became legal in the state following a court decision on the issue that Newsom championed for years. He became a gay hero in 2004 when he ordered the city to begin issuing marriage licenses and opened City Hall for gay weddings with loud local fanfare and in defiance of California law of the time.

Then the wheels started coming off the liberal limousine that Newsom imagined would transport him to higher office. The crack dealer story broke just as the greasy-haired mayor launched his exploratory committee to run for governor—and soon after the brutal triple murder had shocked the city.

On June 22, a San Francisco father and his two sons were shot down in cold blood over a minor traffic altercation by a previously-arrested MS-13 gangster. Those murdered: Tony Bologna, 49, Michael, 20, and Matthew, 16.

Danielle Bologna, the grieving wife and mother pleaded for the death penalty for the killer with District Attorney Kamala Harris, [Send her mail] who was elected despite her pledge never to seek the death penalty. The bad news for the Bologna family: Harris did not pursue execution for a cop killer in 2004, so it's unlikely she will change now.

An apprehension was made several days later. The lawyer of the arrested shooter Edwin Ramos spun the tale that the accused was a legal immigrant. But authorities soon disproved that fiction. In fact, Ramos is an illegal Salvadoran, a known member of Mara Salvatrucha (AKA MS-13), who had been arrested in March:

“Ramos was also booked on felony weapons charges and as well as a separate count of being in a criminal street gang. Police cited ‘numerous documented contacts’ that officers had with Ramos and Lopez, and said both were ‘active members of the MS-13 street gang.’" [Triple-killing suspect escaped prior S.F. prosecution, By Jaxon Van Derbeken, San Francisco Chronicle, June 27, 2008]

And since San Francisco is a sanctuary city, Ramos had not been deported, but was released to do more crime.

So when news came out a few days later that the city was actually squandering serious taxpayer funds (specifically $2.3 million for housing illegal alien youth since 2005) to shield unlawful foreign crack dealers from the feds, public outrage was intense.

The audacity of spending the people's money to engage in illegal protection of criminals went over the line for most in the city, and particularly when an illegal alien had just committed a terrible triple murder. (In addition, the mayor had threatened in June to lay off hundreds of city workers because of hundreds of millions of dollars in red ink.)

Gavin Newsom apparently thought he could slime through the latest scandal, as he had done so often before (e.g. his treatment for drinking after embarrassing episodes of drunkenness and bonking the wife of his deputy chief of staff). Can you say "Out of touch?"

At his weekly advisors meeting, some wanted continued "compassion" for the long-suffering crack dealers, but prudence prevailed, because of politics and polling. As one meeting attendee observed, "Not only for someone running for governor... even here in San Francisco, it was a 80-20 loser." [Matier & Ross column, San Francisco Chronicle, July 7, 2008

A local CBS poll released July 1 revealed 79 percent of respondents agreed that San Francisco should "turn over convicted illegal immigrants for deportation".

As a result of overwhelming public opposition to Newsom's extreme sanctuary policy, he reversed his passionately held beliefs of conscience from a day before:

On July 2, he blamed everyone but himself for being in a hole and claimed to be powerless in the situation: Illegals Called Court's Problem [By Jaxon Van Derbeken and Maria Lagos, San Francisco Chronicle]

"I don't have the authority here," Newsom said at a City Hall news conference as he stood beside his handpicked juvenile probation director, William Siffermann. "I have a bully pulpit. The courts have the authority here."

Interestingly, in 2007 he had used that same bully pulpit to reinforce the sanctuary city ordinance enacted in 1989: Newsom pledges to make SF a sanctuary for illegal immigrants [by Peter Fimrite, San Francisco Chronicle, June 22, 2007].

"I will not allow any of my department heads or anyone associated with this city to cooperate in any way shape or form with these raids," Newsom declared. "We are a sanctuary city, make no mistake about it."

But when he saw the tough poll numbers—and his plans for a brilliant political future quickly turning into dust—he dropped his identity as friend of foreign criminals like a salmonella jalapeno. Talk about a flip-flop! [S.F. mayor shifts policy on illegal offenders, By Jaxon Van Derbeken, San Francisco Chronicle, July 3, 2008]

“San Francisco will shift course and start turning over juvenile illegal immigrants convicted of felonies to federal authorities for possible deportation, Mayor Gavin Newsom said Wednesday as he took the blame for what he conceded was a costly and misguided effort to shield the youths…

"’All I can say is, I can't explain away the past,’ Newsom said. ‘I take responsibility, I take it. We are moving in a different direction.’"

The mishandling of dangerous criminals follows a series of minor embarrassments and policy gaffes that add to the picture of San Francisco as a hopelessly loony sort of place, where there is too much diversity ideology and not enough common sense:

bullet

In April, Mayor Newsom announced a publicity campaign costing $83,000 of the people's money to encourage illegal aliens to use taxpayer-funded city services, even as the budget deficit was projected to be $338 million.

bullet

Chief of Police Heather Fong admitted in June that she had not maintained her gun proficiency, a requirement of all police that they qualify at marksmanship every six months at the department's gun range. Apparently not enforcing immigration laws kept her too busy to fulfill a Chief's duties.

bullet

In an indication of San Francisco's hatred of all things even slightly military, the Board of Education voted in 2006 to ban the Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (JROTC) from local schools, despite the program's wide popularity with parents and students.

These aberrations are symptoms of a bad case of multicultural psychosis taken root in a once-great city.

Furthermore, there are many aspects to the crack dealer case that can cause a normal brain to throb in pain. One is how otherwise rational characters claim to be amazed that sanctuary statutes can be abused to such a degree. Former San Jose Police Chief of Police Joe McNamara remarked, "It's just incredible to think they were spending all that money to help criminals evade being deported." [Immigrant sanctuary laws seen as practical. By Tyche Hendricks, San Francisco Chronicle, July 6, 2008]

What does McNamara think has been going on in Los Angeles for these many
years? LA does not hand out free airline tickets home, but Special Order 40, its own version of sanctuary, has been directly responsible for releasing dangerous criminals onto the street who have then committed an array of violent crimes, most recently the murder of young Jamiel Shaw.

Illegal alien gangsters are a protected class in the way that police are permitted to deal with them. And Los Angeles has wasted plenty of money on useless social programs meant to deter gang activity.

But Joseph Russoniello, United States Attorney for California's northern district, didn't accept Gavin Newsom's press conference excuses for a minute.

“Russoniello wasn't buying it Tuesday, calling Newsom's explanation ‘all contrivance.’

"’They have said all along that it was the sanctuary policy that mandated they shield these people from ICE,’ he said. ‘It's only because it's so preposterous that the sanctuary law would shield drug dealers that they've now come up with this alibi.’ [Young illegal immigrants lose their San Francisco sanctuary, By Maria L. LaGanga, David Kelly and Anna Gorman, LA Times, July 2, 2008]

In addition, the spectacular city by the bay is shooting itself in the foot by its self-destructive politics, which have made it a far more dangerous place to live in or visit.

San Francisco depends on tourism as its #1 industry: it employs over 72,000 people and brought more than $8 billion last year.

Yet San Francisco politicians routinely offend the traditional values of its American visitors, for example when the Board of Supervisors voted in 2005 against berthing the WWII battleship Iowa out of anti-military venom. While discussing the issue on the Hannity and Colmes show, Supervisor Geraldo Sandoval remarked: "The United States should not have a military". (Even liberal Alan Colmes was stunned at that idea.)

The city's smug elite believe they can insult patriotic Americans at will without affecting tourist dollars. And so far, that supposition has been true. Tourist spending in 2007 was an all-time high and an increase of 6.2 percent over the previous year.

But if potential tourists begin to worry about safety issues, the number of visitors might well fall precipitously.

A local news story reporting the Bologna triple murder included an enlightening quote from Supervisor Geraldo Sandoval:

"The gang problem right now in San Francisco in the Mission, in the outer Mission, is really out of control, they are shooting each other, they are armed to the teeth, they are ready at a split moment to start firing."

It's a clip the Chamber of Commerce would probably prefer the public not see—along with the city's dense homicide map and the FBI list of San Francisco Featured Fugitives, which was a diverse assemblage at last viewing.

San Francisco is holding a tiger by the tail. Its politics dictate continued leftist adherence to permissiveness regarding immigration enforcement, but the increased violent crime that follows foreign gangsters dealing drugs is getting more difficult to overlook and could easily damage the city's vital tourist industry.

Is San Francisco approaching that tipping point now?

Website of the Month: Sanctuary City

Urbanette dropped a nice line to me and asked me to check out her blog Sanctuary City.

Yes!!! Another San Franciscan with brain intact!!! Here's a great article that got put in ChronWatch...

San Francisco has a rich history of tolerance...for political corruption and tyranny, that is. These days, our favorite past time seems to be looking the other way while Gavin Newsom and his cronies on the board of supervisors, the chief of police, the district attorney and many others run the city into the ground. They focus on politically correct pet projects, pander to special interests (namely: gay rights, global warming, social controls, and protecting criminals) while neglecting their basic duties as public servants.

Gavin Newsom has been more concerned about green initiatives like solar panels and ending city spending on bottled water(!) and anti-gun programs than he is about enforcing local and federal laws, fixing the streets, or making San Francisco a hospitable place for middle class families.

He and his supporting cast of supervisors and attorneys and law "enforcement" (what a joke!) operate as though they are entirely above the law. Given his national notoriety for the whole gay marriage debacle back in 2004, this should be an obvious point. However, that was just one out of many incidents showing the utter disrespect that Newsom has for the law.

San Francisco's Sanctuary City Policy is a prime example of this disrespect. While the policy was created back in 1989, Gavin Newsom recently spent a pretty penny to advertise this policy across the city. The road to hell is always paved with good intentions, and the Sanctuary City Policy is chock full of good intentions. It's supposed to help illegal immigrants feel safe while seeking city services such as health care without fear of reprisal from immigration enforcement. The abuses of the policy have been widespread, as a recent series of articles from San Francisco Chronicle reporter Jaxon Van Derbeken show.

A Small Victory For Sanity In SF

Things are happening fast and furious here. I don't have time to comment on it all now so here's the links in order of most recent....

Long story short... after public outcry and threats from the U.S. Attorney's Office, the City of SF has said it has discontinued both the practices of flying illegal alien juvenile criminals home and outsourcing them to group homes. Promising words. But this is only a change in policy - not ideology - as is clear from the comments of the Mayor and especially William Sifferman, the head of the Juvenile Probation Dept.

Just When You Thought This City Couldn't Possibly Get Any Stupider...

Jaxon Van Derbeken writes a follow-up article in the SFGate on the criminal activities of the SF Juvenile Probation Dept.

Shielded by S.F., illegal immigrant crack dealers escape

by Jaxon Van Derbeken in SFGate

An effort by San Francisco to shield eight young Honduran crack dealers from federal immigration officials backfired when the youths escaped from Southern California group homes within days of their arrival, officials said Monday.

The walkaways are the latest in a string of embarrassments for city officials who are protecting illegal-alien drug dealers from federal authorities and possible deportation because of San Francisco's 1989 declaration that the city is a sanctuary for undocumented immigrants.

Until recently, San Francisco flew juvenile illegal immigrants convicted of drug crimes to their home countries rather than cooperate with the federal Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency, a practice that drew national attention when The Chronicle reported it Sunday.

When federal law enforcement authorities demanded that San Francisco halt the flights and began a criminal investigation, the city decided to house some of the dealers in long-term youth rehabilitation centers. Some of those centers are run by a not-for-profit outfit called Silverlake Youth Services in mountain towns southeast of San Bernardino.

Eight Honduran juveniles who had been convicted of dealing drugs in San Francisco were sent within the past few weeks to the company's group homes, where one month's placement costs $7,000 per youth - an expense borne by San Francisco taxpayers.

Within 10 days of being sent to the unlocked group homes, however, all eight youths ran away, said Bill Siffermann, head of juvenile probation in San Francisco. He said his agency has issued arrest warrants for them.

Siffermann said the city has stopped sending juvenile offenders to Silverlake because of the escapes. "We have now eliminated that as a prospect," he said, adding that the city is trying to come up with an approach for how to handle the juveniles that does not involve giving them to federal immigration authorities.

San Bernardino County sheriff's Capt. Bart Gray said Silverlake had reported the Honduran youths as runaways - not as juvenile offenders. Three of the youths were listed as missing from Silverlake's Douglas House in the town of Yucaipa, 16 miles southeast of San Bernardino, on June 20 and two more on June 22, Gray said.

Juvenile probation officials say three other Honduran youths who had been convicted as juveniles in San Francisco disappeared from another Silverlake-run group home, but it was not immediately known which one.

Silverlake officials confirmed that the youths had vanished but would say nothing further, referring inquiries to San Francisco officials. Silverlake's operations officer, Jeff Boyd, said he was barred by law from commenting.

Fruit trees and farm animals

Silverlake's Web site says the company maintains 10 group homes that "exist for the sole purpose of providing a home environment and psychological health care for troubled youth. The focus of the program is to provide residents with the opportunity to gain effective control over their lives through the acquisition of rethinking skills and positive character growth."

The site adds that many of the group homes "have large lots and offer the opportunity for the residents to garden, tend to fruit trees and raise farm animals."

San Francisco sent the youths to the Southern California group homes after federal authorities demanded that they stop the practice of flying illegal alien juvenile offenders to their homelands without alerting immigration officials.

Turning over the youths to federal authorities for deportation could have resulted in their being legally barred from ever returning to the United States. Federal officials said the city's practice of returning the youths to their homelands to be reunited with their families did nothing to prevent drug-dealing juveniles from coming right back to the United States.

They also noted that it is a crime to help an illegal immigrant cross the border, even if it is to leave the country.

San Francisco officials countered that many of the youths were victims of drug dealers and that it wasn't fair to bar them from ever becoming citizens.

Not eligible for CYA

The eight youths who escaped from the San Bernardino County group homes were scheduled to be flown back to Honduras before city juvenile probation authorities halted the flights in May. They were not convicted of violent crimes, so they were ineligible to be sent to the California Youth Authority. San Francisco did not send them to the county's Log Cabin Ranch on the Peninsula for the same reason.

The eight were among dozens of young Honduran illegal immigrants who have been arrested in San Francisco in recent years for dealing drugs. Police said many of the Hondurans - some of whom they believe are actually adults - live communally in other local cities at the behest of drug lords, who finance their travel here and threaten to kill their families if they cooperate with law enforcement.

Officials say there are at least 22 illegal immigrants being held at the city's juvenile hall.

San Francisco sent four illegal immigrant juvenile offenders from El Salvador and elsewhere to the Silverlake home in Yucaipa last year. All four escaped within three weeks, San Bernardino County authorities said.

County resentful

Undersheriff Richard Beemer said the practice of "dumping" youths in his county "is a huge concern."

"These are not youth placement facilities," Beemer said. "They are homes. They are not locked down."

The youths sent there are hundreds of miles from their probation officers in San Francisco, so "they end up being a problem in the community," Beemer said.

"This is in no way rehabilitating them," he said. "They are coming in and engaging in the same kind of conduct that got them sent down here."

Beemer added that "no community likes to have ex-felons. The same is true for juveniles who have committed felonies, who were engaged in criminal activity. We don't want them dumped in our community - they are not our responsibility."

Gray, the sheriff's captain, said his community is besieged by "imported" offenders who take up an inordinate amount of his department's resources.

Lidia Stiglich, president of the San Francisco commission that oversees the Juvenile Probation Department, said she was working with the mayor's office and the probation department to decide what to do with offenders the city refuses to turn over to federal immigration authorities.

"Everyone is looking at the current policies," she said. She would not comment on the San Bernardino County escapes.

With flights home and cooperation with federal authorities ruled out and the Southern California group homes off the table, Siffermann said, "We're running out of options."

Here's an option you flaming incompetent asshole... Turn them over to the Feds!

These people should - at the very very least - be fired, and preferably jailed, for illegally evading the Federal Authorities and allowing illegal alien drug dealers to escape to do harm to American citizens - all with taxpayer money.

If there is a better definition of "treason" I haven't heard it in a long long time.

A Quick Thought On The Supreme Court's 2nd Amendment Decision

Here's a quick thought about the Supreme Court's decision affirming the right of Americans to bear arms in their homes...

Liberals constantly use the "well-regulated militia" argument to try to deny law abiding individuals the rights afforded to them by the 2nd Amendment. So, it's reasonable to ask... why did the framers of the constitution choose not to explicitly affirm an individual's right to keep arms for self-defense???

The answer is easy... and it is just as true today as it was over 230 years ago...

The reason why the framers of the constitution did not explicitly affirm an individual's right to keep arms for self-defense was because they felt there was absolutely no need to.

They felt that the right to defend yourself was a God given one... one that certainly could not be legislated by any government that wouldn't call itself tyrannical... and that the only people who could possibly have a problem with someone keeping personal firearms were either...

a). insane,
b). criminals themselves who didn't want to get shot, or,
c). future despots wanting a docile populace to boss around.

So Mr. Liberal... which are you?

Perhaps it's d). all of the above!

San Francisco Systematically Circumventing US Immigration Law: Giving Honduran Drug Dealers Flights Home At Taxpayer Expense

I just had to reprint this whole story from the SFGate because it is just too unbelievable to let go. If you are not convinced yet that San Francisco is run by the criminally insane, then read this...

Feds probe S.F.'s migrant-offender shield

by Jaxon Van Derbeken
in SFGate

San Francisco juvenile probation officials - citing the city's immigrant sanctuary status - are protecting Honduran youths caught dealing crack cocaine from possible federal deportation and have given some offenders a city-paid flight home with carte blanche to return.

The city's practices recently prompted a federal criminal investigation into whether San Francisco has been systematically circumventing U.S. immigration law, according to officials with knowledge of the matter.

City officials say they are trying to balance their obligations under federal and state law with local court orders and San Francisco's policies aimed at protecting the rights of the young immigrants, who they say are often victims of exploitation.

Federal authorities counter that drug kingpins are indeed exploiting the immigrants, but that the city's stance allows them to get away with "gaming the system."

San Francisco juvenile authorities have been grappling for several years with an influx of young Honduran immigrants dealing crack in the Mission District and Tenderloin.

Those who are arrested routinely say they are minors, but police suspect that many are actually adults, living communally in Oakland and other cities at the behest of drug traffickers who claim to be their relatives.

Nonetheless, city authorities have typically accepted the suspects' stories and handled the cases in Juvenile Court, where proceedings are often shielded from public scrutiny.

Unorthodox strategy

Barred by state law from sending drug offenders to the California Youth Authority and bound by a 1989 city law defining San Francisco as a sanctuary city for immigrants - meaning officials do not cooperate with federal immigration investigations - juvenile officials settled on an unorthodox strategy.

Rather than have the drug offenders deported, they have recommended that Juvenile Court judges and commissioners approve city-paid flights home to Honduras for the offenders with the aim of reuniting them with their families.

The practice, federal authorities say, does nothing to prevent offenders from coming back, while federal deportation legally bars them from ever returning. Federal officials also say U.S. law prohibits helping an illegal immigrant to cross the border, even if it is to return home.

Federal officials recently detained a San Francisco juvenile probation officer at the Houston airport, where he was accompanying two Honduran juvenile drug offenders about to board a flight to Tegucigalpa.

They questioned him for several hours before letting him go, and seized the youths and deported them.

"Our job is to uphold the nation's immigration laws," said Greg Palmore, spokesman for U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). "Although San Francisco is a sanctuary city, it's a problem whenever someone attempts to evade the law. ... Our law does not allow us to turn a blind eye to any individual who has come into this country illegally."

Feds 'flabbergasted'

Joseph Russoniello, the U.S. attorney in charge of the San Francisco area, said he was "flabbergasted that the taxpayers' money was being spent for the purpose of ferrying detainees home. You have to have a perfect storm of dumb moves to have it happen."

William Siffermann, chief of San Francisco's Juvenile Probation Department, said federal agents have never specifically told his office not to send immigrants back to their home countries, but that he has stopped the practice until differences between the city and immigration authorities are resolved.

He said the city's stance is that it does not have to report illegal immigrant minors to the federal government, even if they are found in Juvenile Court to have committed a crime.

"We are not obligated to," he said. "We are abiding by the sanctuary city ordinance."

Siffermann added, "I don't believe we've done anything wrong." But he stressed that his office wants to make sure it is fulfilling its duties "in all arenas, with federal statutes, state statutes and the sanctuary city law."

Juveniles with beards

San Francisco police doubt that many of the young Hondurans they arrest on drug charges are even juveniles.

Police can report suspected adult illegal immigrants to federal authorities if they commit a crime, said Capt. Tim Hettrich, until recently the head of the narcotics unit.

So immigrant drug dealers "pass themselves off as juveniles, with a three-day growth of beard and everything else. It's frustrating," he said.

"Some of them have been arrested four or five times," Hettrich said. "That is one of the big problems with being a city of sanctuary."

He scoffed at San Francisco's strategy of returning the offenders to their home country. "They probably get the round trip and the next day, they will be right back here," Hettrich said.

Patricia Lee, head of the San Francisco public defender's juvenile branch, would not comment on pending cases. But, she said, "a lot of the young people have suffered a lot of abuse, abandonment and neglect in their native country and have been used as (drug-running) mules. There is lot of victimization and trafficking of these young people."

'Gaming the system'

Russoniello said the drug dealers are being sent here as part of an effort that takes advantage of San Francisco's leniency.

"What we're facing is a number of people gaming the system," he said. "Sooner or later the city will realize the advantage to cooperating (with federal authorities), whether it's the threat of criminal prosecution ... or some other method."

Russoniello would not confirm or deny the existence of a federal investigation, but juvenile probation officers connected to the case have been interviewed by federal agents about the flights.

City officials will not say how many juvenile drug offenders have been flown out of the country in recent years or how much the city has spent on the effort.

Federal immigration authorities stumbled on to the effort when they caught several illegal immigrants in December at the airport in Houston, along with a San Francisco juvenile probation officer.

The officer was on hand to make sure the immigrants boarded a plane to Tegucigalpa.

Federal authorities say they met with Siffermann and told him that any juvenile offender had to be handed over to immigration officials after completing his sentence.

The Immigrations and Customs Enforcement agency sent a letter to Siffermann on Dec. 17 stressing that it would soon "like to begin receiving referrals" about immigrant juveniles in custody in the city.

"The red flag was flown," Russoniello said.

City saw it differently

Siffermann, however, said federal authorities were not exactly clear about what the city could and could not do related to the flights or the status of immigrants held in juvenile cases.

"They did a little friendly stop-by," Siffermann said. "They said, 'This is something we would like you to cooperate on.' ... They said, 'Hey, look, this could be contrary to federal law, you might be in violation.' "

Meanwhile, the flights continued.

On May 15, two more illegal immigrants from Honduras were arrested in Houston, again accompanied by a San Francisco juvenile probation officer. Federal immigration authorities held the officer for more than three hours before releasing him.

Six days later, there was another meeting, Siffermann said. This time it was with a representative of Russoniello's office.

After that, Siffermann put the flights on hold. "We will look for other (approaches) for them," he said.

Siffermann stressed that the city ships out juvenile offenders to their home countries only after all other rehabilitative efforts have failed, including probation, foster care and juvenile detention.

The strategy is appropriate, Siffermann said, because deporting young offenders would doom them from ever becoming productive residents of the United States.

"It might prevent them from obtaining citizenship," he said, denying them a chance to "take a different course."

In a statement released by the city attorney's office, which is advising the city on the issue, spokesman Matt Dorsey said, "We've been in ongoing contact with the U.S. attorney's office on this, and we've informed them of our intention to address these issues in court proceedings.

"We're looking at the legal issues carefully and methodically," Dorsey's statement said, "and we're in the process of advising our client, the Juvenile Probation Department."

He said his office was not aware of the practice of flying juveniles back to Honduras.

Stranded juveniles

A recent count showed 22 of the 125 minors in custody at juvenile hall were immigrants and had no legal guardians in the United States, Siffermann said. He said his office is trying to figure out what to do with them now that flights are no longer an option.

Russoniello said the city has no choice but to comply with U.S. law and turn the youths over to federal authorities. "The alternative, now that they are all on notice, is a period of prolonged darkness," he said.

Judge Donna Hitchens, who oversees the city's Juvenile Court, said the original idea for flying youths home came from juvenile probation officials, and that it is up to them, not judges, to work out their differences with the federal government.

"We are only the judicial branch," she said. "The issue is between the city and ICE."

San Francisco's Illegal Alien-Loving Criminal Enabling System Starting To Unravel

Several events have happened in recent weeks to shed light on the criminal enterprise that is the San Francisco City Government.

1. The Department of Justice announced they were seeking the return of $5.4 million that Kamala Harris' office received from the Southwest Border Prosecution Initiative, claiming that not one of the 2,241 cases they received grant money for was deserving.

Feds Want $5.4 Mil Back From SF

2. 3 San Franciscans - a father and two sons - were murdered by a member of the notoriously violent Salvadoran gang MS-13 in a drive-by shooting with no apparent motive.

Election Endorsements: Keep Judge Mellon

The SF Public Defender's office hates Judge Thomas Mellon. I mean really hates him. Which, in my book, is a good reason to support him.

Mellon's slogan is "Keep Politics Out of the Courtroom." Clearly, that is not acceptable to the idiot progressives of San Francisco, who want very much to politicize the bench, further cementing San Francisco as a one-party town. Mellon is a Pete Wilson appointee - which right there is enough to give your average God-hatin' progressive hives!

The Bar Association of San Francisco lists Mellon as the only one of the three candidates to be "qualified" for the job.

Mellon has managed to piss off the PD's office on a number of occasions, but judicial reviews of him have never substantiated any claims of bias (SFGate story).

I don't know too much about Mary Mallen. However, I know all too well the politics of Gerardo Sandoval - a termed out member of SF's Board of Marxists - a race-baiting idiot whose gaffes and stupidity are legendary. Sandoval being given a judicial seat would guarantee a highly politicized courtroom doing what progressives love - letting criminals off the hook, punishing those who are successful, and basically standing as a road block to any idea which wouldn't validate the prog's view of the world as a racist, classist, uncaring place.

This dangerous asshole must not win.

The BASF said of Sandoval: "Following the Judiciary Committee's investigation, interview of the candidate, and deliberations, the Committee finds this candidate to be “Not Qualified.”" 'Nuff Said.

I don't know too much about Mary Mallen, other than that in the words of the BASF: "Following the Judiciary Committee's investigation, interview of the candidate, and deliberations, the Committee finds this candidate to be “Not Qualified.”"

I will give her this, though... at least she has Sandoval's number:

MALLEN: With respect to one of my opponents, I believe we have a totally different perspective on what the role of a judge is. One of my opponents gave an interview with, I believe it was the Bay Guardian, and he said he was going to be an activist judge, and that he was going to be a troublemaker on the bench. And I believe that he either has a fundamental misunderstanding about the role of a judge, or he intends to make a fundamental assault on the role of a judge.

RECORDER: Are you talking about Supervisor Sandoval?

MALLEN: I'm talking about Sandoval, that's correct. And it's also on his Web page, he says other things with respect to sunshine laws being applied to this branch of the government. And I think you go back to the Federalist Papers, Marbury v. Madison, and you understand that that's just simply not the role of a judge.

(from Mary Mallen: In her own words - CAL LAW)

Election Endorsements: YES ON C, G - NO ON ALL THE REST

Very quickly, here are your election endorsements for June 3rd...

Letter Propositions:

YES ON C, G - NO ON ALL THE REST

A: NO - School Parcel Tax with unfair burden on homeowners. The problem is that SF Public Schools are treated as a social engineering experiment rather than schools. Lack of money is not the reason why SF Schools suck.

B: UNDECIDED - B contains some much needed reforms of San Francisco's ultra-generous retiree health care plan. However, the opponents have a point when they say the real problem is that this is a relatively minor point which should not come before the voters anyway, and that the City Charter should be changed so that we don't have to spend tons of money on elections for relatively minor stuff.

C: YES - The "moral turpitude" penalty. After a string of embarrassing scandals, someone had the idea that it might be nice to have at least some level of morality in San Francisco government. Gay advocates whine that "moral turpitude" laws traditionally have been used against homosexuals. In a town where half the government is openly gay, I don't see that as a problem. Chris Daly is against it. That right there is a good reason to vote YES.

D: NO NO NO - More affirmative-action bullshit. As the no on D campaign's argument says: "Good political appointees for City boards and commissions come from all ethnic, religious, and sexual communities... but never in the exact mathematical order demanded by City Hall 'bean counters.'" This is simply reverse racism - the usual "progressive" PC mindfuck that is driving this City into the ground.

E: NO - Another Mayor Newsom vs. Board of Supervisors bitchfight makes it to the ballot. Behind this is - as always - the usual Marxist crap from the Board; they want the power to put "acceptable" candidates on the PUC. Why? Because sewer and water bills are paid by LANDLORDS - evil, stinky landlords - and the Marxist scum on the Board are always up for any way to stick it to them.

F: NO NO NO - Anytime a good idea is proposed in San Francisco, the "progressives" will swoop right in to screw it up. Behind this proposal - which states any development in the Hunter's Point ghetto must include 50% "affordable housing" - is the usual white arrogance of the liberal goon squads. The argument in favor of it is one of the most patronizing things you will ever read - it literally treats the Afro-American community an endangered "tribe" which must be saved and preserved for future generations of guilty white liberals to wring their hands over.

This is so fucked up. One of the main reasons why blacks are leaving the ghettos of HP and Sunnydale is because they are SUCCEEDING! They are getting ahead in life and don't want to live in a mother-fucking GHETTO!

I find the Sierra Club's endorsement of this measure disturbing. If there is any more evidence needed that the Sierra Club is going the way of the Green Party, I don't know what it is. Just like the Greens, the Sierra Club has sold out the Earth in favor of Leftism. And they will soon be every bit as irrelevant.

G: YES - Prop. F was put on the ballot as a reactionary monkey-wrench to this one. This is a relatively good deal that much of Hunter's Point is behind. The poverty pimps don't agree - they feel the area MUST be preserved - as a GHETTO.

H: NO - A possibly unconstitutional attempt to eliminate the ability of some "special interest" groups to contribute to candidates... but not others.

Next up: The available seats and the butts that want to fill them...

San Francisco SUV Jihad Driver Pleads Insanity

From the always awesome Brenda Walker on the indispensable website Limits To Growth...

Hit-run rampage suspect enters insanity plea [5/13/08]
In August 2006, Omeed Aziz Popal, a Muslim born in Afghanistan, purposely ran down more than a dozen people in San Francisco after killing a man in Fremont by the same means. See my report from the time of the crime, SUV Jihad in San Francisco?

Naturally, he is pleading insanity rather than jihad. But in a KTVU television segment shortly after the rampage was stopped, a witness reportedly said the driver (Popal) called himself a "terrorist."

A 31-year-old Fremont man accused running down and trying to kill pedestrians in San Francisco entered a plea today of not guilty by reason of insanity to 35 felony counts.

Omeed Aziz Popal is accused of 16 counts of attempted murder, 16 assault charges and other crimes stemming from the attack Aug. 29, 2006, in which people were run down in at least 11 spots from the Tenderloin to Laurel Heights.

Prosecutors have argued that Popal drove around the city seeking out victims, even circling the block to return to "kill zones" by aiming his Honda Pilot at people prone in the street from his first try.

I find it curious that Popal drove from Fremont to San Francisco (a 33-mile trip that includes crossing the 2.4-mile Bay Bridge and would take at least 40 minutes midday) in order to kill random people when he was already in a gigantic urban zone. More curious is how his route within the city brought him close to the two synagogues on California Street. One victim was a block away from the synagogue located at the corner of Webster (see map). When Popal reached the Jewish Community Center near Presidio, he ran down two people on the sidewalk.

Did Popal travel to San Francisco to kill Jews? Maybe. Or was his Muslim sensitivity offended by San Franciscans' edgy lifestyles enough to make that city his target? Also possible. And given the political correctness of the "justice" system, we'll probably never know for sure.

National Terror Alert: Three Mexican Police Chiefs Ask For Asylum in U.S.

Three Mexican police chiefs have requested political asylum in the U.S. as violence escalates in the Mexican drug wars and spills across the U.S. border.

In the past few months, the police officials have shown up at the U.S. border, fearing for their lives, according to Jayson Ahern, the deputy commissioner of Customs and Border Protection.

“They’re basically abandoned by their police officers or police departments in many cases,” Ahern told AP.

Ahern said the Mexican officials — whom he didn’t name — are being interviewed and their cases are under review for possible asylum.

In the most recent high-level assassination, a top-ranking official on a local Mexican police force was shot more than 50 times and killed. Drug-related violence killed more than 2,500 people last year alone in Mexico.

“It’s almost like a military fight,” Ahern said Tuesday. “I don’t think that generally the American public has any sense of the level of violence that occurs on the border.”

As the cartels fight for territory, this carnage spills over to the U.S., Ahern said — from bullet-ridden people stumbling into U.S. territory, to rounds of ammunition coming across U.S. entry ports.

ICE raids??? In San Francisco???

Sanctuary City my ass!

Today it appears as though the illusion that San Francisco is somehow not part of the USA was once again shattered, as ICE agents raided all 11 locations of the El Balazo burrito chain in the Bay Area.

On Friday, immigration raids swept a popular Bay Area taqueria chain. All 11 local "El Balazo" restaurants were raided and dozens of undocumented workers were arrested and face deportation.

The El Balazo on Marin Street in San Francisco is closed. Earlier, Federal Agents rounded up 62 workers from Mexico and one from Guatemala. Immigration says a number of them may have been living in the Bay Area and working here illegally for years.

The operation came to a climax Friday morning. Simultaneous raids at 11 locations of the El Balazo restaurant chain including this one on Marin Street in San Francisco. I.C.E. Agents from Immigration and Customs Enforcement also descended on the El Balazo restaurants in San Ramon, Concord, Pleasanton and other East Bay locations. An immigration official says it started with an on going investigation of the El Balazo chain.

"But as part of this enforcement action we encountered 63 workers at these 11 locations who are working at these establishments, who in the country illegally, and don't have authorization to work in the United States," said Virginia Kice, from Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

Kice says it is pure coincidence the raids took place on the day after the May Day immigration rally. 11 workers were released almost immediately because of medical conditions including pregnancy. A few of them may have criminal records and a decision will be made later on as to whether they will be taken into custody. No criminal charges have been filed and I.C.E. would not comment on any possible action against the restaurant owner who hired these workers.

No doubt this will cause a new round of whining and moaning from the usual suspects... our wronger than wrong mayor, our idiot supervisors, and the Communist thugs that have somehow managed to gain legitimacy in this town. But, if you read the comments sections on any article, you will see a surprising and encouraging amount of almost unanimous outrage that our borders are open and that illegal alien criminals operate with impunity.

I am not saying, of course, that all illegal aliens are criminals (beyond the crime of breaking into the country in the first place... and possibly the crime of using false documents to work... illegally... ), but clearly many illegal aliens are criminals. That is not my opinion - that is a fact.

A look at any prison, any jail, any police department's most wanted list, at any Hispanic gang line-up, will bring home this basic truth that the racist scum of the anti-borders crowd constantly try to hide... by using the all too predictable tactic of screaming 'racist!' at anyone who doesn't believe that the SW USA should be handed back to Mexico, or believe that it is the obligation of the natives to change their country, language, and culture to suit the immigrants.

Blogs4Borders! May Day Edition!

MJ does a great job as usual covering the Chicago May Day marches!

One thing to note: not necessarily the red, white, and green flags, nor even the red, white, and blue... but the preponderance of just plain RED.

It is no great secret that America's Communists have found an ally in the anti-borders contingency. The big banner reading LONG LIVE COMMUNISM should give you a clue!

Given that most illegal immigrants these days come from Socialist countries, or from anti-government populations that believe heavily in Socialism, it is no great surprise that a majority of them want to see America turned into a Socialist state. Some, like Elvira Arellano and her ilk, openly espouse the illegal immigrant's "right to transform this country." Others hind behind the banner of "progressive politics" while preaching open Socialism.

In short, if there is one thing you can say for certain about the anti-border activists, it is that they firmly believe that the government owes them everything - from health care to jobs to citizenship to communications in their native language. They believe this to the core of their being - and believe just as strongly that it is the obligation of Americans to give them everything, without so much as a thank you in return.

This is not my opinion... it is a fact. The evidence is all around us every day.

And if you idiot liberals honestly believe that these people see you as somehow 'better' than the rest of America for your support... they don't. You're just another goddamn gringo. And a stupid, gullible one at that.

Happy Earth Day!

April 22, 2008

America's Ecological Future Will Be Determined by
Immigration Choices We Make Today

(Washington DC ) As Americans commemorate Earth Day on April 22, the country's ecology and resource base continue to be imperiled by mass immigration. More than any other factor, population growth in the United States is adding to the stress on our environment, and nearly all of the nation's projected population growth over the next 40 years will be a direct result of current and future immigration.

Since the first Earth Day in 1970, U.S. population has grown by more than 100 million people, driven by ever increasing levels of immigration. The Census Bureau projects that our current population of just over 300 million will increase to about 435 million by 2050, exacerbating many of the resource and environmental crises we face in this country.

"It is unrealistic to believe that we can address issues like pollution, urban sprawl, and the depletion of water and other vital resources, while continuing on the population path we have been on over the past several decades," said Dan Stein, president of FAIR.

FAIR was founded in 1979 to address concerns about the role of immigration in U.S. population growth. On Earth Day 2008, the organization is renewing its call for a rollback of excessive immigration to the United States and a thoughtful consideration of how these policies will affect the long-term environmental health and security of the nation.

"Unless government acts to alleviate the pressure for ever-increasing levels of immigration, Americans will face a future that holds worsening environmental conditions, dwindling resources, and greater dependence on foreign energy sources. This was not the sort of future envisioned by people like the late Senator Gaylord Nelson who initiated the Earth Day celebration," Stein said. "As we observe Earth Day, we call upon our nation's leaders to get off the immigration and population growth spiral that can only lead to further environmental degradation."

Something Is Missing In Our Earth Day Activities...

By Maria Fotopoulos
April 16, 2008

Last year about this time, it occurred to me that the “green thing” had finally arrived … was running on all cylinders … had achieved mass market acceptance. The dawning came with the realization that seemingly all the key consumer magazines had dedicated April as their green issues – hadn’t seen that before – even though of course April is the month in which Earth Day is celebrated.

There finally was this critical mass of awareness achieved through myriad efforts, including such contributions as Al Gore’s continual “hitting the pavement” with “An Inconvenient Truth,” the good ongoing work of organizations such as the well-funded Natural Resources Defense Council and the efforts of millions of individuals.

There were numerous news stories about corporate efforts to incorporate green as part of their corporate social responsibility (CSR), and more and more green products came to market. Sure, some of this green enthusiasm had to be discounted as just lip-service and trying to ride the green wave, but with thousands of other pieces of green evidence, there was no denying there was a new level of awareness and a desire to move towards a truly sustainable society.

This is all good, but in a month that has that special day – Earth Day – to salute Mother Earth and to wallow in our green-ness (even though, yes, we’re supposed to live Earth Day every day), we for the most part ignore a key issue that drove the environmental movement 40 years ago.

So while the kids are enjoying green face-painting and parents are admiring the many uses of hemp at the numerous Earth Day activities during this month, it’s time to add back the discussion about overpopulation by Homo sapiens.

The late Senator Gaylord Nelson, founder of Earth Day, knew that population was a significant element of environmentalism. “The bigger the population gets, the more serious the problems become…. We have to address the population issue…. It can be done.”

Unfortunately, we have become increasingly reticent to discuss overpopulation and its concomitant environmental impacts, let alone actually address it. The 1970s when the population-environment linkage was always acknowledged and widely discussed are a distant memory. We now live in a time where for eight years the leader of the free world has failed to show any true top-down leadership by repeatedly denying funding for the United Nations Population Fund.

And within our country for the last 25 years, we have allowed a flood of immigrants to settle here essentially unchecked. Again to (Senator) Gaylord Nelson, who also said, “In this country, it’s phony to say ‘I’m for the environment but not for limiting immigration.’”

Here in California, the population increased nearly 50 percent just from 1970 to 1990. Virtually all of the additional 500,000 people we’ve been adding annually in recent years is attributable to immigrants and births to immigrants. According to the California Department of Finance, the state’s population may hit 60 million by 2050.

The impact of this population tsunami is felt everyday in congested roadways, overcrowded schools, poor air quality, stressed biodiversity and diminished quality of life. So it’s difficult to imagine a California that would be better with a population twice the size of the current one.

We, as Californians – as Americans – must decide if we will choose to determine the direction of our country for those who will inherit it. In fact we need to decide if we have a moral responsibility to do so. Or, will we just let the future unfold with no regard to what will be wrought through overpopulation?

That’s something to think about this Earth Day.

Does Diversity Really Make Us Better?

A great read... the story of a desperately idealistic Harvard professor... who looks for evidence that diversity makes us stronger... and finds something quite different...

"Diversity Destroys Trust" by Jared Taylor, American Rennaisance

The Stranger Within My Gate

The stranger within my gate.
He may be true or kind.
But he does not talk my talk -
I cannot feel his mind.
I see the face and the eyes and the mouth,
But not the soul behind.

The men of my own stock
They may do ill or well.
But they tell the lies I am wonted to,
They are used to the lies I tell.
We do not need interpreters
When we go to buy or sell.

The Stranger within my gates.
He may be evil or good,
But I cannot tell what powers control -
what reasons sway his mood;
Nor when the Gods of his far-off land
May repossess his blood.

The men of my own stock,
Bitter bad they may be,
But, at least they hear the things I hear
And see the things I see;
And whatever I think of them and their likes
They think of the likes of me.

This was my father’s belief
And this is also mine:
Let the corn be all one sheaf - And the grapes be all one vine
Ere our children’s teeth are set on edge
By bitter bread and wine.

Obama's "Brown Shirts" - SEIU Goon Squads

Barack Obama has chosen to align himself with the SEIU - the service-workers international union. This union has been characterized by welcoming and harboring illegal aliens, stalking opponents, and engaging in violent actions against anyone who disagrees with them. These are Barack Obama's "Brown Shirts," who will no doubt be making a lot of news in the coming months, terrorizing other unions into falling in lockstep with the Socialist Messiah.

As the 2008 Labor Notes conference banquet was beginning 200-300 chanting SEIU members and staffers rushed through the side door of the hotel, nearest the banquet hall. The doors had apparently been opened from inside by SEIU staffers attending the conference (see below). Most were wearing the signature SEIU purple T-shirts; some carried signs denouncing the California Nurses Association.

About 15 conference participants were acting as security at the banquet hall doors. When the chanting protesters entered, waving noisemakers, they and others quickly formed a double line in front of the doors, linking arms to block the way. Some participants were thrown to the ground by larger SEIUers. One protestor broke through the first line and, finding himself trapped between the two lines, flailed wildly. Former Labor Notes office manager Dianne Feeley, a retiree from American Axle, was pushed and fell, cutting her head, and was treated at an emergency room. Protesters continued to try to advance toward the doors, some nonviolently and others more aggressively.

It is important to note that SEIU’s planned disruption would have frightened and intimidated hundreds of union members who are not party to their dispute with CNA. In the crowded banquet hall, in which there was barely room between tables; in the panic people undoubtedly would have been injured. As it was, the entire waitstaff, members of UNITE HERE Local 24, fled. We are grateful to the conference-goers whose quick thinking managed to keep the protest contained.

A Poem For The Occasion...

Twas the night before Christmas and all through San Quentin,
the crips were protesting, and liberals were ventin’.

The cyanide hung by the chamber wth care, in hopes that the reaper soon would be there.

The inmates were nestled all snug in their bed ;
except for Old Tookie, who soon would be dead.

And me with my beer mug, dressed warm in my flannell, had curled up to watch it, on the Fox News Channel.

I set up my TIVO to record the news station, and thoroughly loved the momentous occasion.

It seemed lady justice had gotten her way, and that there would be one less savage today.

When outside the jail there arose such a clatter, the cameras had turned to see what was the matter.

When what to my civilized eyes did appear, but a lineup of actors, all liberal, half queer.

The misguided freaks drew some curious looks, as they proclaimed his innocence; clutching his books.

The tears then flew out from Sarandon’s eyes, as she nominated him again for the Nobel Peace Prize.

The actors were tethered to an ACLU sleigh, all towing the line of the urban decay.

On Asner, on Penn, on liberal cop-haters,
On Sharpton, on Jesse and other race-baiters.

Then at 3:01 all curled up like a beetle, Tookie cried like a bitch as they gave him the needle.

When up from the actors there arose such a cry, they had failed in their mission, and Tookie DID DIE !!

I heard Bill O’Reilly say, as I turned out my light, Merry Christmas to all … there was justice tonight !!

Dust Off The Electric Bench! We're Back In Business!

Executions to Resume After High Court OK's Lethal Injections

U.S. executions are all but sure to resume soon after a nationwide halt, cleared Wednesday by a splintered Supreme Court that approved the most widely used method of lethal injection.

Virginia immediately lifted its moratorium; Oklahoma and Mississippi said they would seek execution dates for convicted murderers, and other states were ready to follow after nearly seven months without an execution in the United States.

Voting 7-2, the conservative court led by Chief Justice John Roberts rebuffed the latest assault on capital punishment, this time by foes focusing on methods rather than on the legality of the death penalty itself.

Wednesday's case involved two inmates, Ralph Baze and Thomas Clyde Bowling Jr., who were convicted of murder and sentenced to death by juries in Kentucky. Baze killed a sheriff and a deputy who were attempting to arrest him. Bowling shot and killed a couple and wounded their 2-year-old son outside their dry-cleaning business.

Fayette County Commonwealth Attorney Ray Larson, who prosecuted Bowling in 1992, said after the ruling: "Fact of the matter is, this lethal injection process is about as far from cruel and unusual as anything you can imagine. This is just another one of those things the anti-death penalty gang is throwing against the wall to see what sticks."

From SFGate article

If you want to see just how sick some San Franciscans are, read the comments section of this article. But if you've just eaten, you may want to wait an hour or so. I admit that I spend far too much time arguing on the comment boards there. But it's just so easy...

I am elated, but this is California, the state of phony "compassion" - these assholes will do anything, no matter how dirty, to prevent the DP from coming back. There are a lot of people who hide their racism behind the guise of "compassion," basically saying that no one who's not white should ever be executed. These people claim to be "compassionate," but have no regard for the people who deserve REAL compassion: the victims and their families.

These social retards will never shut up and put there money where their mouth is... meaning putting it on the ballot. Because they know they will never win. Most good people in this world do not make excuses for killers. There is no one so passive-aggressively cruel as an anti-DP advocate.

Website of the Month: Frugal Squirrels

The other day I checked my webstats and found that I got nearly 130 hits from a website called Frugal Squirrels. So I checked it out and it's awesome!

Frugal Squirrels is "an online community dedicated to crisis preparedness, self-sufficiency, and sustainability." It has a store for your survival needs, and a great forums section (you have to register to view the forums).

I've been meaning to post more disaster preparedness information on this site, so in the already crowded sidebar I'm adding a "disaster preparedness" column, encompassing civil defense, personal defense, and maybe some sites explaining why it's a pretty damn good idea to prepare yourself for the inevitable civic hiccups we will be facing in the near future.

...or you could just rely on the government... HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

US State Dept. Issues Travel Alert For Mexico

Violent criminal activity fueled by a war between criminal organizations struggling for control of the lucrative narcotics trade continues along the U.S.-Mexico border. Attacks are aimed primarily at members of drug trafficking organizations, Mexican police forces, criminal justice officials, and journalists. However, foreign visitors and residents, including Americans, have been among the victims of homicides and kidnappings in the border region. In its effort to combat violence, the government of Mexico has deployed military troops in various parts of the country. U.S. citizens are urged to cooperate with official checkpoints when traveling on Mexican highways.

Recent Mexican army and police force conflicts with heavily-armed narcotics cartels have escalated to levels equivalent to military small-unit combat and have included use of machine guns and fragmentation grenades. Confrontations have taken place in numerous towns and cities in northern Mexico, including Tijuana in the Mexican state of Baja California, and Chihuahua City and Ciudad Juarez in the state of Chihuahua. The situation in northern Mexico remains very fluid; the location and timing of future armed engagements there cannot be predicted.

Armed robberies and carjackings, apparently unconnected to the narcotics-related violence, have increased in Tijuana and Ciudad Juarez. Dozens of U.S. citizens were kidnapped and/or murdered in Tijuana in 2007. Public shootouts have occurred during daylight hours near shopping areas.

Criminals are armed with a wide array of sophisticated weapons. In some cases, assailants have worn full or partial police or military uniforms and have used vehicles that resemble police vehicles.

U.S. citizens residing and traveling in Mexico should exercise caution when in unfamiliar areas and be aware of their surroundings at all times. Violence by criminal elements affects many parts of the country, urban and rural, including border areas. Though there is no evidence that U.S. citizens are specifically targeted, Mexican and foreign bystanders have been injured or killed in some violent attacks, demonstrating the heightened risk in public places. In recent years, dozens of U.S. citizens have been kidnapped in Mexico and many cases remain unresolved. Moreover, new cases of disappearances and kidnap-for-ransom continue to be reported.

No one can be considered immune from kidnapping on the basis of occupation, nationality, or other factors. U.S. citizens who believe they are being followed should notify Mexican officials as soon as possible. U.S. citizens should make every attempt to travel on main roads during daylight hours, particularly the toll (“cuota”) roads, which are generally more secure. It is preferable for U.S. citizens to stay in well-known tourist destinations and tourist areas of the cities with more adequate security, and provide an itinerary to a friend or family member not traveling with them. U.S. citizens should avoid traveling alone as a means to better ensure their safety.

This is More Like It

More on the Absolut Mess

In a new ad campaign running in Mexico, Absolut Vodka is sporting billboards and print ads highlighting a map of North America in which California, Nevada, Arizona, New Mexico, Colorado, Utah, Texas and parts of Wyoming are back under Mexico City's domain. Across the map reads the message: "In an Absolut World."

This ad is much more than an ad to entice Mexicans to put down the tequila and pick up the vodka. It is an ad that speaks to a prevailing Mexican mindset many Americans, especially those advocating open borders and amnesty, do not want to acknowledge.

Mexico has long had a grievance with the United States, a grievance stemming from the annexation of Texas and the humiliating defeat the nation suffered in 1848 after it sought to reclaim its lost northern province.

Mexico, still relatively an infant nation, had fumed over the U.S. annexation of Texas and argued it was an act of war. Mexico City also disputed U.S. claims to land north of the Rio Grande. In response to the hostilities, President James Polk mobilized U.S. troops and dispatched them to the banks of the Rio.

It did not take long for Mexican troops to fire upon a U.S. patrol, thus giving Mr. Polk and Congress the green light it needed to declare war. Soon soldiers by the name of Lee, Grant, Scott and McClellan were strolling through the streets of Montezuma.

As punishment for its hostility, Mexico handed over the much-coveted Aztlan and, to ease the pain of Mexico humiliation, the U.S. gave them $15 million. The border was secured.

And even though more than a century has passed since Santa Ana learned it was not wise to step on Superman's cape, many Mexicans, both in Mexico and the U.S., believe that revenge is best served cold.

But in running its ad, the Absolut marketing department has acknowledged a basic truth many on Capitol Hill wish to ignore - immigration is not just an economic issue pertaining to nannies and gardeners; it is about a historical grievance Mexico intends to correct...

...With the border patrol apprehending approximately 150,000 illegal immigrants a month sneaking into the U.S., not counting the scores of border banditos that escape, illegal aliens are filling U.S. jails, roughly 30 percent of the population sitting in federal penitentiaries today, and Latin American gangs are moving their turf wars to the streets of the American Southwest. There is no denying a Reconquista is occurring in the lands once referred to as Alta California.

From: 'Absolut' Arrogane: Philadelphia Bulletin

Absolut-ly! I think we all owe a great debt to the makers and marketers of Absolut, because they have exposed and debunked one of the most oft spread lies of the pro-illegal alien/anti-borders crowd: the reconquista doesn't exist.

It is clear that the reconquista is not a figment of American right-winger's imaginations, and is a very real threat to the sovereignty of the USA.

Ad makers don't take chances. The only reason they ran this ad in Mexico was because they were certain that it would resonate with a majority of the people. In other words, they were counting on the fact that a vast majority of Mexican citizens believe that the Southwestern United States is THEIR land and that they do not need our permission to come and settle here.

The anti-borders crowd has long maintained that the reconquista concept was just the product of American right-wing paranoia, and now see them exposed for the mother-fucking liars that they are! They all know full well what the reality was, and tried to pull a fast one by screaming racist (yet again)! Let's see how the weasels try to worm out of this one!

Moderation and Responsibility: Great For Drinking But Not Immigration - According to Absolut Vodka!

DOJ Wants $5.4 Million Back From S.F.

The U.S. Department of Justice wants San Francisco to repay $5.4 million in grant money earmarked to help fight the war on drugs in states bordering Mexico because federal auditors found the city was not eligible for the funding.

San Francisco had sought the grant under the Southwest Border Prosecution Initiative, which compensates law enforcement agencies in California and other border states for the costs of handling prosecutions in lieu of federal authorities.

As of March of last year, the city claimed it had handled more than 2,241 such cases, but a federal audit released this week found that none of the cases had been referred by federal officials to District Attorney Kamala Harris' office as required under the program.

The audit found that the cases the city cited in its application should have been "disallowed" as "unsubstantiated" under the government's grant criteria.

City officials contacted Thursday were unable to explain the circumstances surrounding San Francisco's application for the grant or how it spent the funds.

Fucking typical! The government of San Francisco openly touts its Sanctuary City status, and then, when the inevitable crime-wave hits, that Obama-loving bitch Kamala Harris tries to bilk the federal government into paying for it! This is just the tip of the iceberg. I hope the feds tear this city a new one.

I am a San Franciscan, proud of what this city used to be, and I hope with all my heart that all federal funding is cut off from this corrupt, criminal city government!
