Cesar Chavez: Minuteman

During his prime, Chavez, a third-generation American citizen from Yuma, Arizona and Navy veteran, was an American labor leader fighting against the importation of strikebreakers from Mexico. But as power and praise went to his head, his image morphed into that of a Mexican mestizo racial emblem, the patron saint of the reconquista of Alta California by la raza.

In 2006, we automatically assume that America’s self-appointed Latino leaders—the politicians, campaign consultants, media mouthpieces, and identity-politics warriors—favor ever more immigration. Their influence and income flow from their claim to represent vast numbers of Hispanics, so the more warm bodies they can get across the border, the larger will be the ethnic quotas upon which their careers are based. But the union leader who is honestly battling for the welfare of his members—as opposed to the boss merely attempting to maximize the number of dues-paying workers—wants less competition for them.

Chavez’s essential problem was straight out of Econ 101, the law of supply and demand. He needed to limit the supply of labor in order to drive up wages. Just as American Federation of Labor founder Samuel Gompers, himself a Jewish immigrant, was one of the most influential voices calling for the successful immigration-restriction law of 1924, Chavez, during his effectual years, was a ferocious opponent of illegal immigration.

His success stemmed from the long-term decline in the farm labor supply. According to agricultural economist Philip L. Martin of the University of California, Davis, migrant farm workers in the U.S. numbered 2 million in the 1920s. Eisenhower cracked down on Mexican illegal immigrants, shipping one million home in 1954 alone. The famous 1960 “Harvest of Shame” documentary by CBS newsman Edward R. Murrow inspired liberal Democrats in Congress to abolish the bracero guest-worker program in 1964. The supply of migrant workers dropped to about 200,000, most of them American citizens, making unionization and better contracts feasible—as long as what Marx called “the reserve army of the unemployed” could be bottled up south of the border. The next year, Chavez began his storied organizing campaign.

Growers fought back by busing the reserve army up from Mexico. In 1979, Chavez bitterly testified to Congress:

… when the farm workers strike and their strike is successful, the employers go to Mexico and have unlimited, unrestricted use of illegal alien strikebreakers to break the strike. And, for over 30 years, the Immigration and Naturalization Service has looked the other way and assisted in the strikebreaking. I do not remember one single instance in 30 years where the Immigration service has removed strikebreakers. … The employers use professional smugglers to recruit and transport human contraband across the Mexican border for the specific act of strikebreaking…

In 1969, Chavez led a march to the Mexican border to protest illegal immigration. Joining him were Sen. Walter Mondale and Martin Luther King’s successor as head of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference, Ralph Abernathy.

Dutch: Mass Immigration Our Biggest Mistake Ever

AMSTERDAM, 27/03/08 - The majority of the Dutch are negative on Islam and immigration. Additionally, their knowledge of Dutch history is meagre, according to a survey by three history professors.

According to 56 percent of the Dutch, Islam is a threat to the Dutch identity. As well, 57 percent named admitting large groups of immigrants as "the biggest mistake in Dutch history".

Stabbing Reveals Disparities in Illegals Laws - Wash. Times

March 27, 2008

By Tom Knott - It is a shame that an illegal immigrant charged with stabbing a man in the sternum in Montgomery County last August, one month after he was charged with assaulting a teen there, was released on $2,500 bail until his trial.

Not surprisingly, Milton Calderon-Melendez, a member of the MS-13 street gang, did not appear at his trial because illegal immigrants do not have to follow the law. At least that is the message many of our lawmakers send to illegals.

So you are an illegal immigrant? No problem. We will build you a day-laborer center with taxpayer funds and encourage our citizenry to learn Spanish, so we can plead with an MS-13 gang member not to stab us in the sternum.

This is not to suggest that all illegal immigrants come to the United States to stab people in the sternum. Some come to the United States to rape and pillage. Others come to peddle drugs. And still others take whatever low-end jobs they can land and exist in a black-market economy.

It is an outrageous system that keeps wages artificially low in the service and working-class industries and hurts many Americans because of their unwillingness to be a restaurant dishwasher at $8 an hour.

Calderon-Melendez is awaiting his fate in a jail cell in Prince William County after the gang unit there arrested him Friday.

As is the policy of Prince William County authorities, they notified Immigration and Customs Enforcement that Calderon-Melendez is in the United States illegally. If Calderon-Melendez had been first arrested in Prince William County, he never would have been released on bail, and one person might have been spared the unpleasantness of a knife to the sternum.

Alas, it is not the policy of Montgomery County to verify the legal status of those arrested, because that is just not nice.

Interestingly enough, all kinds of systems are in place that check on the status of Americans. Are you a poor credit risk? Do you have a bunch of unpaid parking tickets? Did you meet your tax bill last year? What did you buy at the grocery store last week?

Databases store gobs of personal information on you, and all kinds of people sift through the information to make their evaluations of you.

Somehow, though, if you are an illegal, it is considered invasive or unfriendly in some localities to check on your status. Plenty of native-born criminals would appreciate it if that sort of logic were applied to them.

Let's say police arrested someone on suspicion of robbing a convenience store. Would it be inhospitable of police to check on whether there are any outstanding warrants against the person? Would it be rude of police to investigate every aspect of the robber's life?

You are thinking that is ridiculous, that crime is a bad thing and we must rid our streets of those who mean us harm with thorough police work. So what do we know of the estimated 12 million to 20 million illegal immigrants within our borders? Do they mean us harm? Not all of them, of course. But some? Maybe more than some? We do not really know, do we? We just know that not all of them feel inclined to obey our laws, which is hardly shocking, given that some lawmakers are all too eager to set down a welcome mat for them.

Montgomery County authorities are seeking to have Calderon-Melendez extradited from Prince William County, possibly to give him anger-management counseling, if not do some outreach work with him.

Police say Calderon-Melendez resorted to the old knife-to-the-sternum measure after his buddy beat the victim in the head with a baseball bat. The human body rarely responds well to a baseball bat to the head or a knife attack, but the victim survived, no thanks to Montgomery County's lawmakers.

Now they want to put Calderon-Melendez on trial. They might want to put their illegal-immigrant-friendly system on trial, too.

Gangland on History: Deadly Triangle

If you get a chance, check out the "Deadly Triangle" episode of the great Gangland series on History Channel. It's a great introduction to Chinese gangs in San Francisco, and also a very telling commentary on the stupidity of America's immigration policies.

San Francisco has a long and incredibly stupid history of welcoming, fostering, and enabling foreign mafias to set up in the City. Most of the Chinese mafias in the City came directly from Hong Kong, and were stocked almost entirely with recent and/or illegal immigrants.

The real sad thing is that not much has changed; Chinatown is still a gang-ridden ghetto, rife with extortion, murder, gambling and money laundering, and, of course, prostitution... massage parlors filled and refilled with a constant supply of slaves smuggled in from the Far East.

The stupid liberals in this town don't give a fuck... as long as they're not white people they simply don't care. Many "sex-worker" advocates even go so far as to saying that these girls are "living their dreams" and enter willingly into the "arrangement," and are given much better than they would get back home. Basically the same argument the plantation owners used in justifying slavery.

The History Channel's website is pretty useless, but here it is anyway.

Obama's Speech - A Brief For Whitey

Obama's Speech—A Brief for Whitey

By Patrick J. Buchanan

How would he pull it off? I wondered.

How would Barack explain to his press groupies why he sat silent in a pew for 20 years as the Rev. Jeremiah Wright delivered racist rants against white America for our maligning of Fidel and Gadhafi, and inventing AIDS to infect and kill black people?

How would he justify not walking out as Wright spewed his venom about "the U.S. of K.K.K. America," and howled, "God damn America!"

My hunch was right. Barack would turn the tables.

Yes, Barack agreed, Wright's statements were "controversial," and "divisive," and "racially charged," reflecting a "distorted view of America."

But we must understand the man in full and the black experience out of which the Rev. Wright came: 350 years of slavery and segregation.

Barack then listed black grievances and informed us what white America must do to close the racial divide and heal the country.

The "white community," said Barack, must start "acknowledging that what ails the African-American community does not just exist in the minds of black people; that the legacy of discrimination—and current incidents of discrimination, while less overt than in the past—are real and must be addressed. Not just with words, but with deeds ... ." [Full text]

And what deeds must we perform to heal ourselves and our country?

The "white community" must invest more money in black schools and communities, enforce civil rights laws, ensure fairness in the criminal justice system and provide this generation of blacks with "ladders of opportunity" that were "unavailable" to Barack's and the Rev. Wright's generations.

What is wrong with Barack's prognosis and Barack's cure?

Only this. It is the same old con, the same old shakedown that black hustlers have been running since the Kerner Commission blamed the riots in Harlem, Watts, Newark, Detroit and a hundred other cities on, as Nixon put it, "everybody but the rioters themselves."

Was "white racism" really responsible for those black men looting auto dealerships and liquor stories, and burning down their own communities, as Otto Kerner said—that liberal icon until the feds put him away for bribery.

Barack says we need to have a conversation about race in America.

Fair enough. But this time, it has to be a two-way conversation. White America needs to be heard from, not just lectured to.

This time, the Silent Majority needs to have its convictions, grievances and demands heard. And among them are these:

First, America has been the best country on earth for black folks. It was here that 600,000 black people, brought from Africa in slave ships, grew into a community of 40 million, were introduced to Christian salvation, and reached the greatest levels of freedom and prosperity blacks have ever known.

Wright ought to go down on his knees and thank God he is an American.

Second, no people anywhere has done more to lift up blacks than white Americans. Untold trillions have been spent since the '60s on welfare, food stamps, rent supplements, Section 8 housing, Pell grants, student loans, legal services, Medicaid, Earned Income Tax Credits and poverty programs designed to bring the African-American community into the mainstream.

Governments, businesses and colleges have engaged in discrimination against white folks—with affirmative action, contract set-asides and quotas—to advance black applicants over white applicants.

Churches, foundations, civic groups, schools and individuals all over America have donated time and money to support soup kitchens, adult education, day care, retirement and nursing homes for blacks.

We hear the grievances. Where is the gratitude?

Barack talks about new "ladders of opportunity" for blacks.

Let him go to Altoona and Johnstown, and ask the white kids in Catholic schools how many were visited lately by Ivy League recruiters handing out scholarships for "deserving" white kids.

Is white America really responsible for the fact that the crime and incarceration rates for African-Americans are seven times those of white America? Is it really white America's fault that illegitimacy in the African-American community has hit 70 percent and the black dropout rate from high schools in some cities has reached 50 percent?

Is that the fault of white America or, first and foremost, a failure of the black community itself?

As for racism, its ugliest manifestation is in interracial crime, and especially interracial crimes of violence. Is Barack Obama aware that while white criminals choose black victims 3 percent of the time, black criminals choose white victims 45 percent of the time?

Is Barack aware that black-on-white rapes are 100 times more common than the reverse, that black-on-white robberies were 139 times as common in the first three years of this decade as the reverse?

We have all heard ad nauseam from the Rev. Al about Tawana Brawley, the Duke rape case and Jena. And all turned out to be hoaxes. But about the epidemic of black assaults on whites that are real, we hear nothing.

Sorry, Barack, some of us have heard it all before, about 40 years and 40 trillion tax dollars ago.

From VDARE

Obama Blew It

I waited in vain for our hybrid presidential candidate to speak the simple truth that there is no such thing as "race," that we all belong to the same race -- the human race. I waited for him to mesmerize us with a singular and focused appeal to hold all candidates to the same standards no matter their race or their sex or their age. But instead Obama gave us a full measure of racial rhetoric about how some of us with an "untrained ear" -- meaning whites and Asians and Latinos -- don't understand and can't relate to the so-called black experience.

Well, I am black, and I can't relate to a "black experience" that shields and explains old-style black ministers who rant and rave about supposed racial differences and about how America ought to be damned. I long ago broke away from all associations and churches that preached the gospel of hate and ethnic divisiveness -- including canceling my membership in 100 Black Men of America Inc., when they refused my motion to admit women and whites. They still don't. I was not going to stay in any group that assigned status or privileges of membership based solely on race or gender.

I expected Obama, who up to now had been steering a perfect course away from the racial boxes of the past, to challenge racial labels and so-called black experiences. We're all mixed up, and if we haven't yet been by the process of miscegenation, trans-racial adoptions and interracial marriage, we sure ought to get used to how things will be in short order.

That would have been the forward-looking message of a visionary candidate. But Obama erred by looking backward -- as far back as slavery. What does slavery have to do with the price of milk at the grocery store? He referenced continuing segregation, especially segregated public schools, but stopped short. What is he going to do about them? How does he feel about public schools for black boys or single-sex public schools and classes? What does the gospel according to Wright say about such race-based and gender-specific schemes for getting around our civil rights laws?

We can't be united as a nation if we continue to think racially and give credence to racial experiences and differences based on ethnicity, past victim status and stereotypical categories. All of these prejudices surrounding tribe-against-tribe are old-hat and dysfunctional -- especially the rants of ministers, of whatever skin color or religion, who appeal to our base prejudices and to superstitions about our supposed racial differences. The man or woman who talks plainly about our commonality as a race of human beings, about our future as one nation indivisible, rather than about our discredited and disunited past, is, I predict, likely to finish ahead of the pack and do us a great public service.

The SF Homeless Issue In a Nutshell

Every once in a while, someone in this town not only picks up the idea of common sense, but runs with it.

That's what former sportswriter CW Nevius has been doing over the past several months in the San Francisco Chronicle on the issue of homelessness. Today's column sums up the situation very well.

How Helping the Homeless Can Hurt Them
by CW Nevius

S.F. Chronicle

When a homeless man named James Allen Hill overdosed and died in the restroom of the San Francisco library last Friday afternoon, it was shocker.

A drug overdose in the public library? Really?

"It was an unfortunate and tragic incident for everyone," said library spokeswoman Marcia Schneider. "Especially for the security staff that handled it."

There will be those who will see Hill's death as a failure of the system, another example of how the city neglects its poorest residents.

That's not the story here. The city did anything but neglect Hill. But his case does show a flaw, all right: Chronic and incorrigible offenders avoid the consequences of their actions - aggressive panhandling, public urinating or drunkenness - often through the help of well-intentioned attorneys for homeless advocates.

And instead of being placed in treatment, the offender goes back on the street and continues his destructive behavior.

Hill is a perfect example. A familiar nuisance in the Haight, Hill slept in a garage doorway near the Panhandle and was a constant, drunken annoyance to residents and police. From Aug. 27 of last year to Jan. 22, Hill was cited at least 15 times by officers, mostly for open alcoholic containers on the street and public drunkenness.

Time and again, those citations were dismissed.

Often cases like Hill's never even make it to court. The district attorney's office says that is because homeless advocate attorneys drag out the process as long as possible, creating a paper bottleneck in the courts with "burden of proof" legal requests. There are so many steps and appeals that any misstep can result in a dismissal, which the DA's office says is why hundreds of "quality of life"' infractions are thrown out.

To illustrate, Assistant District Attorney Paul Henderson went through court records and found six cases in which Hill was represented in court by Homeless Coalition attorneys. In what has become a familiar refrain, those attorneys got three of the cases dismissed before they came to trial.

In the other three active cases, prosecutors had offered to drop the charges if Hill agreed to go into treatment for his alcohol problem, Henderson said.

"In other words, we were saying, we don't want to prosecute him, fine him, or send him to jail, but he's got to go to services. And he's got to show us proof that he's gone," he said.

Attorneys fought citations

The offer was declined as Hill's attorneys fought the citations. They were still fighting them when he died.

"There's a really good chance we could have saved this guy's life," said Dariush Kayhan, the city's homeless coordinator.

Hill is the personification of the city's frustration with chronic offenders. There wasn't any question about Hill's problems. He drank to excess, used heroin, and careened out of control around the neighborhood. At one point Hill was so drunk that a police officer found him peeing on a black-and-white cruiser.

Does this sound like someone who needs help? Not to the advocates, or the high-powered local law firms who volunteer to do pro bono work to keep people like Hill from convictions.

"It's frustrating," Henderson said. "If he had been convicted, he would have been in treatment."

Attorneys who advocate for the homeless insist it is not that simple.

Elisa Della-Piana is an attorney for the Lawyers Committee for Civil Rights, which often works for the Homeless Coalition and its clients. She wouldn't confirm that Hill was one of her group's clients but said the District Attorney's Office "has never offered a treatment bed or treatment slot to any of our clients."

The distinction here may be what constitutes a "treatment service." In any case, Hill didn't get it.

'An artificial hoop'

One of the primary reasons cases are dismissed is that advocates demand a "traffic court response" to the infractions. That means the arresting officer, who appears at court even though the homeless person generally does not bother, must generate a written narrative of what happened. Henderson sees it as "an artificial hoop" that is designed to muck up the process.

In an appearance before the court this week to try to stop the dismissal of cases, Henderson argued that a narrative isn't needed when the charges are explained in the citation.

"The citation is its own authority," he said. "Every single county in California accepts that, except San Francisco."

In fact, one of Hill's citations was dismissed for "lack of a traffic court response." Here's a guy with at least 15 citations - not to mention any number of times when police stopped him, poured out his booze, and told him to knock it off - and he gets off because of a lack of a written narrative for the arrest.

You will hear a lot about "criminalizing the homeless," in these kinds of cases, but who's really being hurt here? It is annoying to the residents to have a nuisance like Hill in the neighborhood, but even the police don't want to lock him up.

"There are some extreme cases that we see on the street," Kayhan said, "and the last thing we want to do is put them in jail. Here's a guy who is really a classic example. The intent of the law is to find another avenue to engage people who are participating in the kind of harmful behavior that leads to misery and death. I see this as a missed opportunity."

Of course, there is no question that the advocates believe in what they are doing. They insist they are giving representation to the powerless, standing up for homeless against the legal system.

And that's what they were doing last Friday, when James Hill died on the cold tiles of a public bathroom, three months after his 37th birthday.

What Multiculturalism Really Means

"In the name of multiculturalism, racial minorities and anarcho-liberals have waged war on the historic identity of the United States, and the value of Western culture in general. They have resolutely denied that a common American culture even exists. At the same time they demand a universalist order that would impose their political and racial vision onto the entire world. These groups are supported by other subnational elements that include radical feminists, homosexuals, liberation theologians, and Hispanic groups that are already mapping out large portions of America for annexation. By steadily tearing at the cultural and institutional fabric of the United States, these groups are changing the very moral foundations of the nation. Some of the most obvious examples of decline include:

1). Open racial violence against whites.

2). Rejection of normative sexual and social behaviors.

3). Increased family decay, and the abdication of parental responsibility.

4). Dramatic decline in the willingness of young people to identify with the United States and to defend its political or cultural ideals.

5). Unwillingness to defend America’s borders from millions of immigrants.

6). The increasing division of public choices — whether elections, curriculum choices, budget decisions, jury verdicts, cultural observances — along openly racial lines."

Liberal Fascism Comes to Santa Cruz - Again

Santa Cruz has officially made March "Lou Dobbs free month."

The boycott, announced Wednesday in a proclamation written by Mayor Ryan Coonerty that declares March a "Lou Dobbs-free month," is retaliation for the CNN anchor's criticism of Rep. Sam Farr, D-Carmel, after the congressman told an Immigration and Customs Enforcement official last week that his constituents view the agency as similar to the secret Nazi police, the Gestapo.

Here's a few choice snippets from Santa Cruz' elected officials...

According to public transcripts, Rep. Sam Farr (D-Carmel) told ICE chief Julie Myers at a House subcommittee hearing, "The public image of you becomes one of not this compassionate law enforcement agency but essentially a Gestapo-type agency that is knocking down doors."

Farr's lackey
Tom Mentzer said, "This is why I like Santa Cruzans. They won't be censored by anyone. They tell it like it is."

Typical liberal fascism... nobody will censor us but we'll censor anyone we don't agree with!

Do those Nazi uniforms come in green?

New Website: Victims of Illegal Aliens (VOIAC.ORG)

What is VOIAC?

VOIAC is a registry and data base for Victims of Illegal Alien Crime.

Through exclusive FSM investigation, we have discovered that crimes committed by foreign nationals, including illegal aliens, on American soil are not tracked, recorded, or reported by the FBI or the Justice Department as being committed by foreign nationals. This includes all crimes, including those committed by illegal alien terrorists to illegal alien criminals who are currently molesting, raping, killing, and murdering Americans in shocking numbers.

In essence, not only are the victims of illegal alien crime ignored and forgotten, they are not even given the dignity of being a statistic. They just disappear. We are creating this registry and data base to change this disgrace, because the government should be tracking this aspect of crime. Through the VOIAC data base, FSM will attempt to correct this malfeasance. It is to be noted that the President and Congress swore an oath to protect and defend the citizens of the United States; it is their primary responsibility and their actions, or lack thereof, are an abrogation of sworn duty making the majority of them malefactors.

Woman Raped at 5-Star S.F. Hotel - Employee Arrested

A 30-year-old worker of the five-star, luxury Clift Hotel near Union Square was arrested early this morning on suspicion of sexually assaulting a female hotel guest.

Police arrested Christian Rojas at the lobby of the hotel on Geary Street at 5 a.m. Officials said Rojas had used a key card assigned to him to enter the room, assaulted the victim, 39, and then left.

"The safety and privacy of our guests is our top priority. We are cooperating fully with the San Francisco Police Department and its ongoing investigation of the reported incident," said Elizabeth Grillos, the hotel's director of sales and marketing. "Pending the results of the investigation, we have no further information to share at this time."
